Jacumba Connection - edition by David C. Taylor, Stacy Dymalski. Literature & Fiction eBooks @ . Reviews

A fun read... really gets into the seediness of things... stuff you'd never know....in this small desert town....that I live 60 miles away from
fascinating but hard to follow, I get it was a history of transporting illegals, but rather strange
Although there were a couple typos in my kindle version, the book was pretty fast paced and I didnt want to put it down. The story gives a perspective of the immigration issues that you won't hear elsewhere and is a painless way to raise your awareness.
I loved the pace and the characters in this funny but important novel on immigration from the participants' point of view the immigrants and the smugglers and the Border Patrol! It is a fun but important read! Enjoy! I did!
Charlie and Denice DeVille are doing well by doing good, smuggling illegal immigrants from San Diego to L.A. However, the Border Patrol has a distinctly different view of "doing good". The novel is fast-paced, the writing muscular and straightforward, yet with a gritty lyricism that typifies the best of crime writing.

At the heart of the story is the moral quandary in which Charlie and Denice find themselves Can doing good be wrong? Can helping others be a bad thing? Charlie sees himself as "justice disguised as thief". The Border Patrol sees justice in a different light. But as Charlie says, "Who really knows how the score is ultimately settled?"

This is a first-rate debut novel from a writer with a sure hand and a full mastery of the genre. A ripping good read! Buy it! You'll be glad you did.
First time novelist David C. Taylor throws his hat into the ring with the kind of authority usually reserved for more experienced writers. This is probably because of his own background, as one gets the feeling that it's really Taylor's autobiography that's intertwined in these pages. If "write what you know" is Rule #1 for great storytellers, then Taylor knows the rule well, as the world he has created here is rich in both detail and insight. In fact, it's this world of suburban, middle class, criminal opportunists - the outlaw next door, as it were - that I found to be the most compelling part of the book, and I hope that Taylor's future work explores the characters and complexities of this world even more.
This story grabbed me from the first page and kept me hooked all the way to the end. A great read that I recommend to all of my friends. It's a wild ride inside the human side of the illegal smuggling business with a love story at it's core. I COULD NOT PUT THIS BOOK DOWN - it's that good! Take a ride with Denice, aka Dee-Dee, and her husband Charlie as they careen their way through the ups and downs of life. There is danger, love, family and so much more. Get the book, you won't regret it (well except that part about being tired at work after you stay up all night reading it from front to back). I can't wait to see David's next novel.
You know those books that you start reading and then end up staying up until 230 in the morning because you can't put them down? Let me be the first to tell you that Jacumba Connection is one of those books. I literally could not put the book down until I was finished. The main characters in the story, despite their chosen profession (Which one quickly realizes is more an act of humanity than a crime in this particular situation, so you can't really fault them.), make you want to be in the car with them on all their adventures. In fact, at some point I realized I literally felt like I was in the car with them. I had to finish the book to find out what happened to all of the well-developed characters. I have just several words for the author Sequel and when is the movie coming out?
